Who would have thought that on October 11^th, it would be too hot to wear jeans!? But we’re not complaining – what a beautiful morning for football!

The Patriots kicked to us but an interception gave the ball back to them. Defense got going quickly with a great tackle by TB and then a group tackle. Kincaid and Lennox combined on a big tackle on their running back. Another big tackle by Kincaid and it was a turnover on downs – ball came back to us!!

Offence got off to a great start! A big block by Simon which resulted in a huge run by Tristan for a 1^st down. A short run and push by Dawson resulted in a 1^st down. A screen pass and run to Tristan got us close enough for Teg to kick a field goal! It was GOOD! (Raiders 3 Patriots 0) The Patriots next offensive possession ended in a 30 yard toss by them for a touchdown. (Raiders 3 Patriots 6) The extra point attempt was blocked by Riley – kick was NOT good. A good return by Andrews got us into good field position. A 20 yard completion from Tyson K to Lennox – TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS!! (Raiders 9 Patriots 6) Snap, hold and kick were all good! (Raiders 11 Patriots 6) When the defense returned to the field, Keaton held on for a tackle, Teg and Isaac pushed back for a loss of yards but a long throw by Valour resulted in a touchdown. (Raiders 11 Patriots 12) They ran in for a single point convert. (Raiders 11 Patriots 13) Defense came on strong and Isaac knocked their runner out of bounds on their first attempt but on their second attempt the screen pass was successful for them – touchdown Patriots. (Raiders 11 Patriots 19) Kick for 2 was good. (Raiders 11 Patriots 21) Our offense stayed on for only a short time and then, Valour found their way to the end zone – again with a long pass. (Raiders 11 Patriots 27) Good kick. (Raiders 11 Patriots 29) A 20 yard run by Brad was huge for a 1^st down for us. Great blocking by the Raiders which set up a screen pass and massive run by Dawson for a TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS!! (Raiders 17 – Patriots 29) Great start to the game but their relentless passing got tough to defend. A screen pass and run by them – touchdown Valour. (Raiders 17 Patriots 35) Tyson K. blocked the extra point attempt… no good! A single point was given after a lengthy punt by Valour. (Raiders 17 Patriots 36) Dawson broke through for a good run. Lennox showed some great coverage causing an incomplete Valour pass. Good coverage by Keaton on the next play but they made a great catch – touchdown Valour. (Raiders 17 Patriots 42) They went for the single point but pressure by Kincaid and the quarterback had to throw it away. TB took the ball on the kick off and after the pile cleared… it became clear that he was not getting up without help… as in, the help of an ambulance. (We’re happy to say he’s fine now… but a long break in the game and they took their half time break)

The second half started with our defense tackling them for a loss of yards and Kincaid blocking the pass which forced them to punt. Tristan ran for a gain of 5 yards. We didn’t reach the first down marker and defense went back to work. Riley broke through their offensive line and took the runner down for a huge loss of yards. Thomas had great pressure on the quarterback but he managed to still complete the pass – touchdown Valour. (Raiders 17 Patriots 47) Great defense on the extra point – no good! A 30 yard return by Teg was sweet. A screen pass from Tyson K to Brad resulted in a gain of 8 yards. Tyson K. managed a huge push to get the 1^st down as the O-Line opened up the hole nicely for him. Teg ran for a 1^st down, Brad also enjoyed a big run – but eventually the ball went back to them. Riley had another big tackle, and all of the defense pursued the offense well but they eventually found the end zone. Once again, Riley came up huge by blocking the punt. Offense had some great pass attempts but no 1^st downs. Defense stood strong on the 1 yard line but they did find a way to cross the line – touchdown Valour. 1 point convert was good. In the next series, Andrew pounced on a fumbled ball and the game ended with a throw and catch from Tyson K. to Paxton.

Well boys… that was it!! Thank you for giving it your all!! Thank you to those who were at every practice and every game!! Well done to you all who found the fun in the game even through a lot of losses. So many of you still had smiles on your faces in the midst of so many games… so many of you went ALL OUT in every drill and just wanted to get better for your team! That’s what sports is all about – giving it your best every day and making that “best” even better!! We are SO proud of each and every one of you. Thank you for playing for the Raiders – you guys are warriors – you battled your hearts out and never gave up! GO RAIDERS GO!!

EASTMAN BANTAM RAIDERS VS ST. VITAL MUSTANGS

There was a cool breeze blowing, cloudy up above and the Bantam Raiders faced this game with confidence and one goal in mind… to play from whistle to whistle… as hard as they can and here’s how it went.

St. Vital started with the ball. TB held on for the tackle, super defense by Dylan but after a great stand by our defense a quick pass on a 3^rd down by them resulted in a touchdown. (Raiders 0 Mustangs 6) Kick was good. (Raiders 0 Mustangs 8) Good punt return by TB and then, a 25 yard pass completion from Keone to Lennox – 1^st down Raiders!! When the ball went back to the Mustangs, great pressure on the QB by Paxton caused an incomplete pass and the ball was punted back to us. Couldn’t find any room to run and defense came back onto the field. Some defensive highlights followed: TB tackled their tall #13, a group tackled #31, Egan had a huge tackle on their running but a high pass to #13 in the end zone resulted in a Mustangs touchdown. (Raiders 0 Mustangs 14) Good effort to block the convert but they squeaked it through the uprights. (Raiders 0 Mustangs 16) When the Mustangs’ offence returned to the field defense held them again. Riley had a huge tackle on #31 and they were forced to punt. A complete pass from Keone to Tyson K but not enough to keep the drive alive… ball – back to Mustangs. Egan wrapped up their receiver, then, super pressure on the QB by Egan caused an incomplete pass and then, super speed by Egan ended in a tackle for a loss of yards. After all of that work, a lateral pass by them resulted in another touchdown. (Raiders 0 Mustangs 22) Good convert kick. (Raiders 0 Mustangs 24) Offence was ready to march but a long pass was intercepted which put our defense back onto the field. The defense held them where they were and the ball was turned over on downs back to us. A complete pass from Tyson K to Lennox wasn’t quite enough and when the defense got back onto the field, super pursuit by Colby stopped their drive to the end zone but they DID manage to get a field goal through the goal posts to end the first half. (Raiders 0 Mustangs 27)

2^nd Half:

Offence started things off in the 2^nd half and a run by Brad and then a completed pass from TK to Lennox didn’t quite get us past the 1^st down marker and the ball went back to the Mustangs. Their #22 got to the outside – touchdown Mustangs. (Raiders 0 Mustangs 30) Convert was unsuccessful for the Mustangs. Thomas had a great tackle on their running back. Defense worked hard but a wide, deep pass by them was good for a touchdown. The single point convert was good for the Mustangs. The offence did not give up which saw a completed pass from Tyson K. to Lennox but the ball went back to the Mustangs. A 28 yard pass by them was completed in the end zone for a touchdown… and while all of this playing was going on – our boys were getting injured one by one… and the game was called due to lack of players for us.

Boys… we are SO proud of your effort!! It was a great 1^st half but we just didn’t have enough bodies to finish it up. We need to take this week to get healthy and gear up for the playoffs!! It all starts over there – let’s go give it our best!! GO RAIDERS GO!!

Eastman Bantam Raiders at Greendell Falcons

Another beautiful day for football and with a full roster the Bantam Raiders were ready to give it their all. This was a game we could certainly win but all the boys were thinking about was one play at a time… and away we go.

Offence started the game. TB took the kickoff and we marched for a first down. A couple of fumbles stalled the drive. An incomplete pass and defense took to the field. Colby came up with a huge tackle for a loss of 10 yards for the Falcons. Pressure on the QB by Paxton resulted in a sack by Colby. Super defense and the ball was back to the offence. Dawson ran for a 1^st down… but eventually the ball went back to the Falcons. They came up with a huge completion and run for a touchdown. (Raiders 0 Greendell 6) The convert was good. (Raiders 0 Greendell 8). When the defense got back on the field a great tackle by Alex, pressure by Paxton on the QB caused an incomplete pass and offence went back to work. Great speed by Brad, big run by Keone for a 1^st down. Dylan ran for another 1^st down. Keone followed that by a 20 yard run – first down. Teg ran for 1^st down. Great 1^st down push by Dawson to their 2 yard line. Short, hard run by Keone – TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS. (Raiders 6 Greendell 8) Convert kick by Teg is good (Raiders 8 Greendell 8)

Onside kick – Raiders recover and the ball is back to us!! Great job by our special teams. 20 yard run by Keone – 1^st down Raiders. Another 1^st down run by Keone but a turnover on downs and defense was back on the field. Fumble by Greendell – TB pounced on it and the ball was back to the Raiders on their 25 yard line! Big run by Dawson got us into the end zone but a flag brought us back out, tried again, 25 yard throw by Keone to Lennox and we were on their 5 yard line. Dawson ran to the 1 yard line and Keone finished it off with a TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS! (Raiders 14 Greendell 8) Convert kick by Teg was good. (Raiders 16 Greendell 8) Another onside kick – wow – Colby and Dylan recovered their fumble and again – ball to us!! 20 yard run by Dawson but an interception by Greendell put our defense back on the field. Great defense forced them to punt. TB did his job with a great punt return. Dawson ran the ball up the middle, great blocking by the O-line to open up a lane for another 1^st down run by Keone and then, Dawson found the end zone. TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS! (Raiders 22 Greendell 8) Defense got busy again – great speed by Colby for a loss of 15 yards for Greendell. Serious pressure by Riley – incomplete pass for Greendell ball back to us!

2^nd Half

We started the 2^nd half with another fantastic onside kick by Teg and you guessed it – Raiders recovered and another chance for the offence. When the defence got back on the field Riley sacked the quarterback and solid defense caused a turnover on downs. 40 yard run by Dawson – HUGE first down! 6 yard run by Tyson K., short yards run by Dawson for a 1^st down, followed by a 10 yard run into the end zone by Keone – TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS! (Raiders 28 Greendwll 8) Kick is good!! (Raiders 30 Greendell 8) Defense took it’s turn again and Colby hunted down the quarterback and sacked him for a loss of 15 yards. Ball came back to us and Lennox ran it for 15 yards, great fake to Brad and a 50 yard run by Keone – TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS! (Raiders 36 Greendell 8) Teg’s kick is good. (Raiders 38 Greendell 8) Great call by Coach Koop and TB sacked the quarterback! Great pursuit by Isaac and Keaton finished the play with a big tackle. Isaac knocks the next runner out of bounds and the ball was back to us! Big run by Dawson – 1^st down Raiders. Screen pass from Tyson K. to Keone followed by a 20 yard run – 1^st down Raiders. Dylan ran for 25 yards and found the end zone!! TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS! Kick is good by Teg. Defense did their job to end the game. Nice for our offence to be able to take a couple of knees to end the game.

Well done boys!! A convincing win for the Raiders!! We are proud of you for playing as hard as you can from beginning to end!! A win certainly feels sweet!! And we will get back to work this week! GO RAIDERS GO!!

Eastman Raiders vs Nomads

First drive of the game Nomads receive the kick from the Raiders and run the ball to their own 30 yrd line, they gained no yards after the 4th down and the ball was turned over to the Raiders.

Raiders QB, #4 Quinton, handed the ball off to #61 Owen, on two separate downs and gained 7 yrds total, on the 4th down the ball was fumbled and recovered by the Nomads.

Nomads player ran to the Raiders 23rd yard line for another 1st down.

2nd & 3rd down the QB was tackled by Raiders #11 Braysen.

4th & Goal had 5 yrds gained which wasn’t enough for the TD and the Raiders offence were brought back on the field.

Raiders 1st down at their own end zone it was a hand off to the receiver and Nomads defence came in for the tackle and got a safety for tackling in Raiders end zone.

Punt back to Nomads, the player ran the ball to the Raiders 35yrd line and was tackled by #50 Dylan. Nomads gained 9 yrds after 4 downs and was turned over to Raiders. The Raiders were only able to complete 6yrds after the 3rd down before half time.

During the 2nd half, Nomads made a kick to Raiders and their running back Dylan #50 ran it in the end zone for a TD. No convert

The Nomads made an easy recovery back in their first drive into the second half and scored at TD by #42. No convert.

The kick off to the Raiders was caught by #42 Brody and he was able to run it all the way down to the 7yrd line. On the 4th down another TD scored by Raiders #50 Dylan. No covert made.

Nomads received the kick off and gained 7yrds after their 3rd down and made the 15yrd run into the end zone for another TD and the convert.

As Raiders take one last shot at running the ball it was stripped by Nomads but couldn’t quite make the end zone before the game was over.

Lucky again with the weather – the sun was shining and even though the parents were a little chilly in the shade… everyone was thankful for the day it turned out to be. It had been quite awhile since our boys played a game… and they were ready to go.

Once the offence got started, Brad took the ball for a 1^st down. That was followed by a hard run by Keone and a tough gain of yards by Tristan. Not quite enough and the defense was called on. Great defense forced a punt by them. Keone found some room for a massive run. We got close but penalties stopped us just short and the field goal attempt was just wide. Defense went back to work… and it DID work! Isaac’s interception got us in scoring position once again. A couple of 1^st downs was all we could muster and the Nomads had the ball. A big tackle on their #8 and amazing hustle by Riley as he recovered the fumble resulted in great field position. We couldn’t capitalize and the defense stood their ground again. Riley and Andrews combined on a big tackle, great coverage on the pass by TB and the ball was back to us! Offence did some marching and took some time off of the clock and then defense went back to work. TB and Teg combined on a big stop on short yards and great coverage on the pass. The Nomads were knocking on the door but defense stopped them in their tracks. After the 1^st half you could tell it had been a defensive battle – Raiders 0 Nomads 0.

The 2^nd half did not start in our favour – their #5 broke away and found the end zone quickly. (0 Raiders 6 Nomads) Their kick was good. (0 Raiders 8 Nomads). Offence had some trouble and turned the ball over on downs. One big throw by them to #8 = touchdown Nomads. (0 Raiders 14 Nomads) Another good Nomads’ kick. (0 Raiders 16 Nomads) This seemed to wake the offence up and a big run by Keone was followed by a pass from TK to Dawson for a 1^st down. Dylan K. had a sweet run up the sidelines. The offence marched right down to their end. Keone was in for a touchdown but a penalty brought it back… good thing Dawson found the end zone on the very next play – TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS! (6 Raiders 16 Nomads) Teg’s kick was good. (8 Raiders 16 Nomads) Defense was busy right away. Avery threw in a tackle, Colby was displaying great coverage all game but #8 turned on the jets, broke a few tackles and didn’t stop till he scored. (8 Raiders 22 Nomads) And here comes the best part – the boys NEVER GAVE UP. Offence made stuff happen – a great pass and completion from TK to Lennox for a 30 yard gain, then, another 1^st down run by Keone and when they got the ball back the defense was fired up. So much so they got us the ball back. Offence did some moving and a long pass was just incomplete – defense returned to the field. Egan stood his ground against the run and defense turned the ball over on downs. A 15 yard toss from Keone to Lennox and a great attempt for a longer pass to Paxton – but the incompletion saw the ball go back to the Nomads. Our defense made quick work of that and a group tackle stopped their run and drove them back for a loss. The offence’s last chance to finish the game strong was met with success. Keone dropped back to pass but when he saw no one open he ran for a 1^st down himself and the very next play was a beautiful pass from Keone to Lennox in the end zone!! TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS!! (14 Raiders 22 Nomads)

Congratulations Raiders!! A game well played… a battle well fought… so much heart was put into it and you NEVER GAVE UP!! What a great finish by a group of guys who know how to give it their all. Another step to being a better team and we are proud of you! GO RAIDERS GO!!

7:00 PM AT NOMADS FIELD

It was a beautiful night. 20 young men were on the Eastman Raiders’ game sheet. They played every and any position they were called on to play. They were ready for a battle.

The game began with a big run by the Nomads. Guns got in the way of their quarterback and stopped him in his tracks. We couldn’t stop the next charge though – touchdown Nomads (Raiders 0 Nomads 6) The kick was good. (Raiders 0 Nomads 8) A 30 yard kick return by Tyson B. We intercepted and the ball was ours. When defence got another turn, Kevin threw in a great tackle, while Tristan, TB and Dylan K. combined for a big tackle. A huge grab by Riley to stop the run short. A quarterback sack by Egan S. forced the punt – Raiders’ ball! No points on that possession for us and defence kept battling. A quarterback sack by Andrew, Tyson B. hung on for a tackle and super defense by Decker S. as he deflected the ball and their pass was incomplete. Offence went back to work and a pitch from Tyson K to Dawson resulted in a 1^st down. A big push by offence but they fell inches short of the 1^st down. When defense was back in action, Tyson B. tackled them for a loss of yards. Ball back to Raiders and a 30 yard run by Dawson off a completed pass from Tyson K. But the battle took a hit when their #8 broke through the middle and it resulted in a touchdown for the Nomads. (Raiders 0 Nomads 16)

An interception by Tristan – Wow!! A 25 yard run after the catch – what a great way to get the ball back to the Raiders! The offence marched for a bit but when the ball went back to the Nomads, #8 found his way through us again and ran 65 yards to the end zone. (Raiders 0 Nomads 22) A great possession to end the first half saw a 40 yard pass from Keone to Paxton and then, a completed 30 yard pass on the very next play – again to Paxton – TOUCHDOWN!! (Raiders 6 Nomads 16)

The second half started at Pozniak stepped up as the snapper and did a great job! And then, it seemed Keone came to life!! A huge push by Keone – 1^st down! Another huge run by Keone – 1^st down AGAIN! TK to TB – complete! 3^rd and short the Nomads were offside – another 1^st down for us! Topped off by a 20 yard throw from TK to TB – TOUCHDOWN!!

The defense caused another Nomads fumble and we had the ball. Dawson ran for a 1^st down. Keone powered through = 1^st down! A super tackle and fumble recovery yet again – OUR ball! Keone just kept pumping out the 1^st down runs… and then… the ambulance break.

After the stoppage in play the ambulance finally made it’s way off the field and we followed up the break with good energy. Fight by Keone and a big run by Dawson – 1^st down. They got the ball back and their quarterback paid for it as Keone and Riley combined for a HUGE QB sack. Defense fought hard at the end but they found the end zone one more time in the last 3 minutes of the game. Final score = Raiders 14 Nomads 28.

What a MASSIVE improvement over last game boys!! The passion that the coaches are pouring into you finally came out. That’s what it has to be every practice and every game… that is our only ticket to finding a win! Let’s stay tough and work hard boys!! We are only going to get better and better but only if we push ourselves, commit and believe that we can! GO RAIDERS GO!

So, this write- up will be shorter than usual. Not because we lost 30-0 but because the note taker was also assistant coaching that day. It was certainly not our best outing. In fact, the passion and true effort that is a MUST was missing on this particular Sunday.

But here’s the deal… sometimes when you reach the bottom… that’s the only time you start clawing your way back up.

Let’s go from here boys and make sure in every practice and every game this never happens again. Tough losses aren’t the end of the world… they’re often the beginning of the best that’s yet to come.
